Well, well, well... the other night on twitter I was pretty bored, and someone send me this little linky to a 10 minute weekly show put on by members of the UND Men's Ice Hockey team.
(this episode has Danny Kristo in it -- who is currently starring for the US Junior team - wooooooo)
The host, well hosts, of the show (this year, at least) are Mario Lamoureux and Brett Hextall. Brett is indeed the son of famous Flyers goalie, Ron. I don't know how much you follow the US National women's team, but Mario is the older brother of twins Monique and Jacqueline.
(If you look hard you can find some videos that include David Toews, yeah, you can figure out who his older brother is...)
Anyway -- I know some of you guys are on Christmas break, and pretty bored(like me). That said, you should watch these videos... they're hilarious, and really really make me want to go to a school that has a D.1 hockey team. Yay Grad school!!! woooooo
Disclaimer: No matter how much I love these videos and think the players are pretty funny... I am NOT a UND fan. If I had to pick a WCHA team it would be St. Cloud. No question. Just had to get that out of the way...
I'm feeling pretty patriotic as of late, the Olympics and other international sports tournaments really make me feel this way. Like I said before, I'm bored, so I went to the always exciting youtube and came across this video:
Yeah, I know... SUPER cheesy music, but I like it, and I'd be lying if I told you I didn't get chills at least once while watching it. (That said, I also get chills EVERY TIME I watch Miracle)
Last night at the Pens game, I told some Leafs fans, who also happened to be Canadian, that Mike Lee was going to back stop the Americans to a WJC medal. Mr. Leafs fan replied with, "Are you feeling okay?" hahaha. Probably not.
I was surprised last night with how many times chants of "U-S-A! U-S-A!" broke out to squelch the sound of "GO-LEAFS-GO! GO-LEAFS-GO!" Whatever happened to "LETS GO PENS!" ?? haha. Sometimes I felt like the Pens were playing the Canadian National team, not just the Toronto Maple Leafs.
2004 was the last time Canada didn't win the WJC gold medal. I'm not stupid, it's probable that they'll take their sixth straight one this year (and what an amazing feat that could be!). Yeah, yeah, and the Russians and Swedes have pretty good teams too... But, what kind of American hockey fan would I be if I didn't think my boys could pull it off?
U-S-A! woooooooooooooooooo

hahaha, I think we can make a UND fan out of you yet...you are just in denial.
USA, woooooohooooo!
You don't joke with TML fans. Ever. Seriously those people are intense. At this point though any form of hockey is seen as the Canadian national team.
I know what you mean about patriotism, I'm always a very patriotic person, but now that the Olympics are on "home soil" my Canadian pride is literally through the roof. I say this while drinking out of a I <3 Canada waterbottle and wearing a roots sweater and Team Canada t-shirt.
