Twitter seems to be exploding regarding your shutout win against the Caps tonight. I didn't catch the game, sorry about that, but I'm sure it was fantastic. Anyway, reading other peoples tweets made me start to think... I've got some high expectations for you buddy.
For the longest time this was the only thing that really came to my mind when I thought of you:
I'll admit -- I thought it was a pretty good commercial... You dominated.
Anyway, anyway. Let's move on to talk about more serious things. How about... the Olympics in February? That work for you? Okay.
Yeah -- the Canadians might very well have Luongo, MAF (maybe...), and ummmm... that Brodeur fellow, but I don't think you should let that get you down. I'll be the first to admit, they have a pretty impressive resume between the three of them (We don't need to talk about the REST of their team, it's an All-Star team).
Luongo would be playing in the same city his NHL franchise plays in -- they love him. MAF (maybe, yes, if he gets picked) just proved all his doubters wrong and one a Stanley Cup, and made a last second save against a future Hall-of-Famer. And, Brodeur, well, do we really need to discuss the kind of goalie he is? Everyone knows. He's the bomb.
Is Evgeni Nabokov going to be in net for Russia? Yeah, he's never won a Cup for San Jose (haha), but well, I'm pretty certain he's got the coolest name in the NHL. Just say it - wow - it rolls off the tongue so well. Russia might have some Simeon (I'll spell it however I want) Varlamov, but who really cares -- the Caps think they've got a treasure, but the Pens solved him, and so can YOUR team. No worries there.
"YOUR" team? Who is this that I'm speaking of? Yes. The Americans.
I have an incredible, unbelievable, love for my country. I love the United States of America. It has it's faults, everything does, but I love it. The Olympics bring out the best in my competitive spirit, in puts two things that I love together: Country and sport -- that said... I want YOU to win me a medal.
Goalies have this unbelievable opportunity to win a game all. by. themselves. As a Pens fan I've watched MAF do it plenty of times. You can do it. Sure, Pat Kane, Parise, etc. should be able to help you out some, they've got skill, but the Americans need you on your A game.
[I realize at this point that Timmy Thomas might be looking to take the starting position away -- but I have faith in you!]
I know it's a long shot, you guys are a young team, and your leaders are a bunch of dudes from the Toronto Maple Leafs (how that ever happened blows me away). But stranger things have happened...
You have an opportunity -- everyone is watching. YOU can surprise the world.
I'm not asking for a gold medal, truthfully, I'm not even asking for a silver... It might be the first time in my Olympic watching memory that I'll be happy for a medal of any color, but it's the truth.

Ryan Miller... win me a medal.
All my love,
Ali

Ryan, you heard the girl. Do it.
Ali, I honestly think that Canadians are so busy jerking off to the potential Team Canada that they are forgetting who will be playing for other teams. Like the USA. Hellllllo Rob Scuderi and Mark Eaton and Zach Parise and Patrick Kane... And that's only off the VERY top of my head. Brooks Orpik is American too, right? I always forget that.
I have a feeling this team is going to make a medal game. Frankly, don't let the Leaf-factor let you down. Ron Wilson and Brian Burke are smart guys: imagine how badly the Leafs would be doing without them...
I'm looking forward to Team USA making me cringe. For real. I like good competition, so I really hope they bring it.
